WHITE OUT - The Future of Winter Sports

WHITE OUT - The Future of Winter Sports

To celebrate the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milano Cortina, the Triennale Milano commissioned us at Konstantin Grcic Design to curate and design an exhibition that explores how design can shape and advance the field of winter sports in its uncertain future.

  • What happens to winter sports when the snow disappears? Design, architecture, and technology engage in dialogue with climate change.

The term “whiteout” describes an optical effect that occurs at high altitudes when the snow-covered landscape and the sky merge into a single uniform white, causing poor visibility. This extreme condition becomes the starting point for a reflection on the future of winter sports, in dialogue with the world of design. The exhibition explores the relationship between sports, design, and innovation, with a particular focus on the impact of the ongoing climate crisis. The exhibition is organized into thematic sections that focus on disciplines, projects, equipment, and technologies, with a special emphasis on sports architecture.
